Goodbye 1102

I'm not exactly sure about how to evaluate myself as a writer. I have never really thought of myself as a writer, more so someone who just has to write for school. I have basically hated writing my entire life, which is funny considering it is all i seem to do in college, i have always felt that when people read my writing they are judging me a little. I do feel that throughout my freshman year my writing has improved dramatically. but over this semester i do feel i have learned how to write an argument a little more and that i have a better idea about how to do research in the university library. throughout this semester and last i feel my writing has grown in general. I feel like my writing has improved this year but it is no were near were i want it to be, and i know know how much effort and time i need to put forward. I have not really been successful at much this semester, but through revision i do feel my writing has grown and improved, and it has taught me alot. I do have alot more to go and i know taking these English classes early in my college career will and has helped me in many aspects of my other classes. I do need some fine tuning in my time management aspect of writing papers so i can have a better end result. English was never my favorite or best subject by far but it has really helped me in college to get my work done and the right way.

Technology...Need vs. Convenience???

Technology s such a large part of our lives, but if I had to live without one piece of the many technologies I use I think it could be my ipod. Although music is a big part of my life I could live without my constant use of my ipod. I listen to my ipod in the car, at the gym and basically any time I am bored. Although I would have less entertainment and would have trouble getting in the zone at the gym it is possible to live without. As long as I have my computer I have all of my music downloaded and available to me at all times. In the car I do not have to play my ipod I can listen to the radio or ride in silence. At the gym I can listen to the music that is playing throughout the whole gym, it is more about having a rhythm in my head than picking the song I want, although picking my own song does make it easier. It weird to think of all the technological gadget we have now a days, like ipods. Plus all the stuff that goes with them, adapters to be able to connect it to your car radio, ihome to be able to listen to it at home like a radio, paying for itunes, time spent and so much more that goes along with this one little gadget. Plus if you break you have to spend more money to replace because it has become such a part of your life. haha

Marriage?? Why Do It??

Today in my social problems class we were discussing that the idea of family is in crisis. That the traditional family is no more and that is a problem, this idea lead to information about the types of families there are today, family roles and the idea of marriage. My teacher proposed the question “who in here thinks they never want to get married??” A few people in the class raised there hand and I just looked around wondering why. The class went on without asking them why but I could not get the idea out of my head. This made me think about my own thought on marriage. I realized that I myself do no believe in the idea of marriage. As I keep thinking about it several things come to mind. Why is divorce so common these days? What makes me so cynical of something that is suppose to be great? Why don’t I believe(life experiences)? Who’s marriages are working out? Why do people not want to get married like those in my class? Why is getting married so important? When are people getting married? How long are people together before marrying these days? How many are cohabitating un-married with or with-out children? Why are women more ok with being alone? Are we more selfish these days? Has career become more important than marriage? How many couples live essentially “married” but are not legally married for life? What is the pressure? Why is marriage the “normal” thing to do, unlike other societies?
